One of the biggest challenges for me, facing mental illness and just life in general, is to realise and remember that I'm not my emotions. I'm not what I feel, these are fleeting chemicals (or lack of) that pulse through me, connected to semi arbitrary triggers that in turn connect to stories my 2 year old self told my-Self about the way the world works. My two year old self is not very wise... I'm the awareness behind the emotion, the one experiencing the anger, sadness, joy, or the frustration. I'm more than, and so are you. Get skin in the game.
