"We would rather be ruined than changed. We would rather die in our dread Than climb the cross of the present And let our illusions die." W.H. Auden, The Age of Anxiety. Why? (see yesterday's blog), why would we rather be ruined than change. One word, pride. Some of the ancient mystics used to say that there really is only one sin (or one failure, if you don't like the word sin), and it's pride. Admitting that you are wrong, or am at the wrong place is hard, it takes humility. Not too far behind pride, is it's twin brother, fear. Fear of letting go, fear of the unknown, fear of failing. So which is keeping you from growth? Fear or pride, or both? Get skin in the game Pierre
