Super excited about sharing this week's finds with you. And welcome to all the new subscribers! Let me know what you think, and don't forget to hit share if you like it. Have a good one! pierre 1. Barbie has a new bodyI'm am an avid feminist, (why I am a feminist) so trends in all things women are always my radar. Barbie has been doing a turn around of note in the last year or so, their new ads are inspiring and fantastic, and now (finally) they are reacting to the ongoing criticism of Barbie's body. They are bringing out 3 new body types, read the cover story on Time. 2. Beautiful AfricaThree things I spotted this week, am engaging with, am inspired by, and am pondering about. Enjoy. Pierre 1. The New BeautifulA Key trend in beauty the last couple of years is courage, I wrote about it here. What we term as beautiful as a culture says much about what we value and who we are. Here is another good example of that trend. When Laxmi Saa was 15 years old, she was on her way to work when someone came up behind her and tapped her on the back. When she turned around, that person threw acid in her face. What did she do to deserve this? Reject her attacker’s marriage proposal. Now she is a model for a fashion brand in India, Viva N Diva, representing courage and beauty, and an inspiration for acid attack survivors in India. 2. Okay AfricaThis is the first one for the year, let me know if you like it.. Three things I spotted this week, am engaging with, am inspired by, and am pondering about. Enjoy. Pierre 1. The first Braille Smart Watch. The watch, by Dot.Inc, translates text messages, email, and even ebooks into braille. In a world that is filled with touch screens, interacting with tech for the blind and visually impaired is increasingly difficult. The Dot Watch fills that gap, and does so with great design too. Look out for their Dot Pad coming soon. 2. 271 years old 'pantone' colour chart |
