Hi there 3 good things today, 3D printed tyres for your car, awesome African Sci Fi, and an EKG that you can put in your pocket. Which one do you like the most? Let me know in the comments. Have a good one. p 1. Michelin unveils airless 3D-printed tYres, that could last forever (nearly) The future of tyre technology is rolling into reality, thanks to Michelin’s Vision tyre. The 3D-printed tyre does not need to be inflated, and it’s designed to last through the entire lifetime of a vehicle. It’s also equipped with high-tech sensors and it’s 100% biodegradable. - Inhabitat 2. Sci-fi from KenyaSalim Busuru, a Kenyan artist, is reimagining science fiction and writing basing it on his own cultural background. So, instead of the Star Wars staples of flying saucers and white men in tights, he imagined a world with mythical African creatures and migrants as the main characters. “I heard something a friend of mine said about a Kenyan rapper who went to the States to make it as a rapper in their (black-American) style, accent – thug life and all. My friend said of the rapper, '..anapeleka maji Lake Victoria', which translates to 'He is delivering water to Lake Victoria'. That is when I realised I was doing the same thing in art but from Kenya." via Design Indaba see more from the collective 3. AN EKG in your pocketThe Kardia Mobile EKG is a new device developed by the AliveCor team, it aims to bring you professional level EKG to your home and at the tip of your fingers. Easily detect atrial fibrillation early on and prevent a potential heart attack or stroke which are one of the main causes of death or incapacity. Along with the fingertip electrode tracker you also get app that will analyse, interpret and record all of your heart’s monitoring and then transmit it to your physician. Its accuracy is at 98%. - via BlessthisStuff
